An exploration of love, heartbreak, and self-reflection, the track captures the universal struggle of letting go when emotions linger. “This song is for anyone who’s ever wanted to hate someone but couldn’t because the love you felt was still too real,” Eva says. “It’s about those moments when you’re stuck between heartbreak and hope, and I wanted to create something that lets people feel seen in their pain.”

“Hate You” was produced by Devon Murray and Aidin Nortje of We Could Be Related—the team behind Ben Rodrigues’ viral hit Was It Real. “We came across Eva on social media,” Devon shares. “After we saw some of her impressive vocal covers, we wanted to reach out and see if she’d be interested in writing together. One session in it was already apparent that we had a great connection and the writing process was seamless.” Eva’s single, Hate You, combines haunting sincerity with a pop beat that demands to be sung along to. Her sound draws inspiration from artists like Adele, Tate McRae, and Sia, weaving storytelling with a modern pop edge. Eva describes her music as gritty, emotional, and irresistibly catchy.
Born in Cape Town, Eva Marie’s creative journey has been years in the making. A multi-talented performer with a background in acting, dancing, and singing, she competed at the prestigious iPOP talent convention in Los Angeles earlier this year, earning accolades in singing and acting. Eva’s covers on social media caught the attention of her producers, leading to this milestone moment. Her passion for music began in childhood, finding solace in singing during difficult times.
