Feel-Good single spreads a message of love

Considering the events of the past few years and what is currently happening around the world, it is clear that we could all use some happiness, compassion, and love right now. And that is exactly what singer-songwriter Grace de la Hunt‘s latest single, SPREAD YOUR LOVE, offers.

The melody of this fresh, feel-good track, written by Zolani Mahola and Patric van Blerk, is based on a Cape Verdean song originally sung by Cesária Évora. According to van Blerk, their reasoning for this was simple: “We wanted to express a positive, happy global vibe.”

For Grace, the song’s rich history, coupled with the fact that it is unique and well crafted, makes is very special. “I’m extremely blessed to be able to perform this song,” she says. “What could be better than spreading a message of hope and love?”

She admits, however, that her perfectionism can sometimes be crippling. “To do this song justice, I trusted my

friend Sean Ross to handle the production to ensure the perfect outcome.”

Accompanying the track are two music videos, due for release soon. The first is animated and portrays a message of hope in an imperfect world, while the second one, which will be released on Friday, 30 March between 9h30 and 10h00 via Jacaranda FM’s online platforms, is more personal to Grace.

SPREAD YOUR LOVE is the artist’s second single. Her first, When I’m with You, a collaboration with Audio Engine, was released in 2015. As it climbed the charts nationwide, Grace’s name was established, and she was invited to open for Mariah Carey at Green Point Stadium.

Grace, who was a semi-finalist in South Africa’s Got Talent in 2015, is as a singer-songwriter with a deep interest in how music makes people feel.

The 28-year-old Capetonian, who studied fine art, has been performing in restaurants and at live music

venues for nearly a decade, using her unique voice and guitar skills to carry audiences on an intimate personal journey. She has also spent some time working in Paris, which allowed her to play for a range of new audiences and to diversify her repertoire.

Although Grace can cover up to five hours of music from various genres, including classics and jazz through the decades – she prefers listening to nature sounds and classical music when she’s at home.

She is, however, influenced greatly by American singer and songwriter Caroline Polachek. “I love that she is

unique. She is proof that pop is not just for teenagers, and that distinctive artists have staying power.”

Grace currently works as a photographer, retoucher and social media marketing manager, which admittedly takes up much of her time. However, she is determined to write new music this year while continuing to perform as often as possible.
