The Female face of the DFF 2016 campaign, Twinky Trisha Dimba, now “walks tall” along fashion catwalks and has come a long way since being bullied at school because of her height!

Born in Durban and currently living in F Section, Ntuzuma Township, 19 year-old Dimba has benefitted enormously from her success at the DFF 2015 and her participation in the model boot camp. “I have learnt self-discipline, confidence and to never to give up. I have learnt to push myself to another level, to be more of the perfectionist that I am. I have learnt to be more health conscious and to ensure that I have a fit and healthy body,” she explains.

Although an extremely humble and God fearing young lady who writes poetry, studies part time and participates in a youth programme in Ntuzuma, Dimba has nevertheless been exposed to a lot of opportunities and has drawn the eye of the media as she has participated in a number of different shows as well as the SAMA Awards.

Signed by large Durban modelling agency, Ice Model Management, she has entered and won a number of ramp competitions and has enjoyed wearing beautiful creations by designers such as David Tlale, Thula Sindi, Siya Meyiwa and many more.

Asked whether she prefers ramp or photographic modelling, Dimba admits that she can’t choose between the two.

“When it comes to a photographic shoot, I get to be someone else, to express myself through my body and be amazing as God has created me to be. When it comes to the ramp, it is about being powerful and strong. I get to be the show stopper and be the centre of attention. I get to show the best of the garmentI am wearing whilst also being every shade and colour that God has created me to be,” she says.

Lastly, she is thankful for the opportunity that the DFF has given her and is proud to be one of the faces for the campaign alongside her fellow winner, in the male New Face category, Olwethu Cele.

Tickets are now available at Computicket with tickets from R100 per person per show with students paying R50 per student per show between Aug 31st – Sept 2nd hosted at the DEC Hall and Tickets for the Recognition Awards show are R200 per person and R100 per student hosted at the ICC on Saturday, Sept 3rd.
