It’s Valentine’s Day, and love is being celebrated all over the world. Yet, for some, today is a day of heartbreak.
Chereé’s brand-new single, HEART (written by Sunette Bridges), is deeply personal to her. Having faced her own dark days, she often had to remind herself that she alone had the power to take the next step toward healing and to let light back into her life.
Forgiveness and self-love are at the heart of this song – messages that both Chereé and songwriter Sunette Bridges hope to share this Valentine’s Day.
“I wrote the lyrics for HEART while struggling with heartbreak myself, spending countless hours in conversation with my own soul,” Sunette explains. “I refused to let the darkness of sorrow consume me. I realized that my healing was in my own hands and that this pain, too, would pass – if I just held on and believed that I would make it through.”
Chereé adds: “This song is dedicated to everyone facing Valentine’s Day with a broken heart. It’s a song about resilience and new beginnings, about forgiveness and acceptance, and the journey toward healing. To truly love someone else, you first need to love yourself and allow light into your life. With HEART, I want to encourage everyone to have a conversation with their own heart and make the choice to step out of the shadows and into the light.”
Sunette had the privilege of recording the music for HEART in Nashville, working with some of the most talented musicians in the industry, under the guidance of Bob Minner and Denny Hemingson. “I couldn’t have asked for a better artist than Chereé to bring this song to life. She, too, has walked her own path of love and disappointment – a journey that ultimately led her to Wynand, the love of her life.”
Chereé’s heartfelt rendition of the song is infused with raw emotion, and listeners will undoubtedly hear that she has climbed that mountain and now lives in the light of love.
Both women hope that HEART will be an inspiration to everyone, especially on this day that celebrates love.
After all these years, the love between Chereé and Wynand remains as strong as ever, and this year, they are celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary. The couple share two beautiful daughters, Taylor-Hope and Bella-Joy, who have completed the circle of their love. Because they sing and tour together, they have built a deep understanding and appreciation for one another. They support each other’s dreams while still allowing one another the space to grow as individuals.

“Wynand has always treated me with a gentle hand and a heart full of love, and his raspy voice still makes my knees weak. He is truly a good man with a generous heart and an incredible father, which makes him even more attractive to me. I can’t imagine my life without him. Every day, I am grateful to have him by my side,” says Chereé.
Sunette concludes: “This is a song about perseverance and starting over, about forgiveness and acceptance, and the journey to healing. To truly love another, you must first love yourself and allow light into your life. If you’re alone today, let this song be yours! Climb that mountain, and don’t look back until you’ve reached the top. The view is breathtaking!”
