Reigning Miss World Africa and former Miss South Africa Liesl Laurie survived a horrific crash last Thursday.
In what could be termed a miraculous scene on the TV series Survivor, Laurie escaped death after her car was hit from behind and as a result, she drove under a truck in front of her.
According to witnesses at the scene, they had concluded that the driver of the Mercedez Benz A Class was not going to survive the accident.
To their shock, a fetching model crawled out through the rear window of the vehicle and they realised it was Miss SA 2015.
The accident happened on the N1 highway just before the New Road offramp in Midrand.
Laurie’s Benz is said to be badly damaged and had been considered a write-off by her insurance.
An eyewitness revealed to Sunday World that Liesl was bumped at the back by another driver, and, as a result, she smashed into the back of a truck.
Liesl’s publicist Jarred Doyle confirmed the accident and said his client was still shaken by the incident.
He added that Laurie planned to take a few weeks off from public appearances. “She has indicated that she will take a short break from driving because she needs time to forget about the accident,” he said.
