A former police captain, Andre Fabricius, 50, was shot dead in his home yesterday when robbers broke into his home in Linden, Johannesburg, Netwerk24 reported.

Andre Fabricius, 50, died at about 03:00 on Tuesday morning after he was shot in the chest and his wife and son were assaulted.

According to the report, three armed men broke into the house through a window. Fabricius woke after hearing a noise and was fatally shot when he went to investigate.

According to De Kock,Fabricius’s mother-in-law, Rista and her 13-year-old son Dario had been tied up by the robbers and assaulted with a firearm. The men took money, a cellphone, tablet and a laptop.
