Award-winning radio presenter and musician, Francois van Rensburg’s brand new single and music video have just been released – and fans are going to love it!
TWEE WÊRELDE is about change and the theme is very appropriate for the situation in which South Africans are currently finding themselves in. “The title of the song is ironic in the times we are living in, because it was written and recorded just before the national lockdown was announced,” he shares. “That is why the song is so relevant. The diverse world we used to live in yesterday, differs vastly from the harsh reality we are faced with today.”
This striking track was a collaborative effort between Francois and Joe Foster, who also produced the song. According to the artist, who has always had great admiration and respect for Joe’s talent, the writing process went very well and he enjoyed working with Foster.
“When collaborating on a song, it is important to respect your fellow-songwriter. Because you are working with your truth, trust is very important. The process with Joe was very natural and I think that is what makes this song so special. Although he gave me creative freedom during the writing and recording process, I can clearly hear his influence in the song and I am looking forward to working with him again soon.”
Francois reveals that TWEE WÊRELDE was inspired by his father’s death, but that it has more than one meaning and can also refer to change within a relationship. “As long as the song takes the listener on a journey and makes them feel something, I am happy. The lyrics and melody are open for personal interpretation.”
The music video of the track was also released this afternoon and has been carefully planned to reflect the honesty and vulnerability of the song. The video was filmed by Giant Squid Films (Optog!) at the Pierneef Theatre in Pretoria, and shows Francois performing alone on stage without an audience.
“The shots that were used are intimate. Director Kyle Wood created an honest and spontaneous video by guiding me to act as natural as possible. Interesting lighting options were also used,” he explains. “This is the first time that I am releasing a single and music video simultaneously and I am very excited about it.”

Francois grew up in a house where the radio was always playing in the background and he believes that this is where his great love for music was born. Later, music and lyrics also became a way for him to express what he was thinking or feeling.
Although he is actually a full-time radio presenter, he did his first professional recording with Wouter Venter in 2010 and over the years his hobby became a calling. He says he enjoys singing ballads the most because he loves telling stories and creating meaningful songs.
Francois admits that although he enjoys a wide variety of genres, Coenie de Villiers’ work has always had a great influence on him. Jak de Priester, Laurika Rauch, Johannes Kerkorrel, Elton John and Robbie Williams are also credited as some of his greatest inspirations.
When he is not busy with his own music, he promotes other hard-working musicians on his weekly radio shows, Lunch Punch (daily) and his award-winning weekend show, Gister se Grotes (Sundays). He also makes time to do voice overs for animated films, audition for roles, socialize with friends, ride his motorcycle and write songs.
Gister se Grotes won South African Radio Awards for Best Weekend Program and Best Music Program on a Community Radio Station in 2019 and 2020.
Francois van Rensburg likes keeping busy and is always up for a new challenge. Through hard work and perseverance, he has managed to build a steady career for himself in the local music industry.
The singer wants to make honest music and share the stories in his heart. TWEE WÊRELDE contains all the necessary ingredients of a bona fide radio hit and marks the start of an exciting chapter in this entertainer’s career.
