In an attempt to unite South Africans and give them hope, popular duo, Frank and I decided to write a special song for our beautiful and diverse country.
ONS SAL WEER OPSTAAN (Bloed In My Are) is an alternative pop-rock track written by the group members, Johan Brits and Frank Furniss, themselves and can be described as an involuntary outcry of Afrikaner hearts.
“We often end up having conversations about the country and politics, which end with predictions for the future. What is yours? We see a country that will rise again; a nation that will be dependent on our Heavenly Father and that is what this song is about,” the pair explains about the inspiration behind their second single. “The lyrics are uplifting, and we believe that the song has a prophetic message and is a creed for our nation.”
The music video, that consists of footage they recorded themselves with an iPhone, already received over 17 000 views on YouTube alone and will be released on Television soon. The video was filmed in different locations in and around the Cape and includes scenes that capture the message of the song and give hope. “We only write songs when we have a message to convey, so compiling the video was actually easy. Because we live in the Cape, finding the perfect location was not a problem and we decided on a place close to home,” they share.

ONS SAL WEER OPSTAAN follows in the footsteps of their debut hit song, All We Need Is Love, which was released internationally under the name Frank, Billy and I. This song was written and sung with songwriter Billy Falcon and attracted the attention of international superstar Bon Jovi, who was so impressed with their music that he shared the song via Twitter with his fans and also offered to pay their management fees in Nashville for a year. Unfortunately, they had to put their plans on hold because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but they will soon revisit this opportunity to make it a reality.
Frank and I was formed after Johan and Frank became friends after performing at the same music events in Cape Town. Since then, the duo has only gone from strength to strength. They not only did several shows in Nashville, but also shared the stage with big local names like Jo Black, Juanita du Plessis, Steve Hofmeyr, Nianell, Prime Circle, Johnny Clegg, Retief Burger, Elvis Blue and many more.
Johan Brits (the I in Frank and I) has been working in the music industry for twelve years and describes himself as a funny, loving person. This twenty-nine-year-old Capetonian has been obsessed with music since he was a little boy and studied Music after school for a year.
He is a well-known singer, songwriter and worship leader in the local Gospel industry, has performed at various Gospel Skouspel shows, and written songs for artists such as Rouchelle Liedemann, Desmond Wells, Hugo Nieuwoudt and many more.
Frank Furniss is thirty-nine and has been in the music business for almost twenty years. He currently lives in Paarl and studied Music in Pretoria and Stellenbosch after school.
He is a talented guitarist, producer, songwriter, worship leader and singer and has had the privilege of working with international stars such as Will Smith, Queen, Annie Lennox and Katie Melua. Locally, he has also played guitar for several big names.
The duo is currently working on an album that they would like to release in America and still has many plans and dreams for the future, including working with international groups such as U2 and Coldplay.
Their main objective is to have a positive influence on people, all over the world, with their music and with a song like ONS SAL WEER OPSTAAN, they are definitely on their way to achieving this goal.
ONS SAL WEER OPSTAAN is now available on all digital platforms.
