Freddie Hawman celebrates love and happiness with second single

Following the success of his single We Belong last year, popular pop singer Freddie Hawman has just announced the release of a brand-new song, co-written by Riku Lätti.

About CENTERFOLD, his second single produced by Mean Mr Mustard’s Mark Beling, he shares: “It is a feelgood pop song that draws a comparison between the things that make you happy and that special someone in your life. I immediately resonated with the positive message and upbeat tempo of the song and hope that fans will enjoy listening to it.”

A music video of this catchy tune, which was inspired by a road trip, will be released soon.

Born in Pretoria, Freddie has been passionate about music from a young age. Although he started taking guitar lessons at the age of nine, he never considered a career in music until 2020.

The twenty-one-year-old, currently a third year BCom Informatics student at the University of Pretoria, released his first single in April 2021 and has already won several local music awards including Best Entry Level PerformerBest Popular Music Student and Best Vocal with Instrument Student of the Year at The Legends of Arts SA Championships. He has also had the privilege of opening for popular acts like Loki Rothman and The Debbi Lonmon Band.

The biggest influence on his musical journey, is his guitar teacher and member of the duo Little Sister, Debbi Lonmon, but he admits that artists like Billie Eilish, Dean Lewis, The Beatles and Queen also impacted his own style.

Freddie enjoys listening to a wide variety of music but is intrigued by wintered artists like Neil Diamond, Tracey Chapman, Bruce Springsteen and many more.

If he had to choose a different career, he would have liked to be a professional golfer. When he is not on stage, he enjoys building sports cars and spending time in the kitchen.

The young artist’s plans for the future include releasing more songs and being on stage as much as possible. “I am trying to establish myself as an independent musician. It is a very challenging and expensive process, with no safety net. But I am fortunate enough to have the support of my parents in everything I do,” he shares.

Freddie Hawmanbelieves that his music should always be fresh and different and hopes that CENTERFOLD will appeal to listeners of all ages.
