Gautrain partners with Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series for seamless Race Day travel between Tshwane and Joburg
In 2024, the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series is set to further elevate the runner’s experience in Tshwane and Joburg by welcoming the Gautrain as the Official Transport Partner. The events in Tshwane and Joburg will take place in the vibrant cities on Sunday, 25 August 2024, and Tuesday, 24 September 2024, respectively.
“We are thrilled to welcome Gautrain as the official transport partner of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Series Founder. “Gautrain’s commitment to providing and optimizing an integrated, innovative public transport system is truly impressive, offering a reliable, efficient, and safe mode of travel. Like the Gautrain, the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series also supports people on the move and is dedicated to making every aspect of race day memorable and enjoyable. This partnership is a significant win for the series, as it will ensure that runners enjoy a seamless and hassle-free journey to and from the two prestigious races.”
“With the participant’s experience being our top priority, we strive to create an environment where runners, whether elite or social, can focus entirely on their performance and enjoyment without worrying about logistical challenges,” continues Meyer. “Partnering with Gautrain enhances this experience by making travel more convenient and secure, allowing participants to arrive at the starting line relaxed and ready to give their best.”
In closing, Meyer adds: “This fantastic partnership is just another way of giving back to the entrants. Together with Gautrain, we look forward to hosting two memorable events and can’t wait to #RunYourCity in Tshwane and Joburg.”
According to Tshepo Kgobe, Chief Executive Officer of the Gautrain Management Agency, this partnership will make Gautrain an even more integral part of people’s daily lives and the mobility of choice in the province, not only for work, business, and school, but also for large-scale social, sport, and lifestyle events. “This partnership aligns with the Agency’s purpose to transform spaces, people, and the economy through mobility. The Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series includes two races in Gauteng that are easily accessible via the Gautrain. Runners from Johannesburg will be able to travel to Pretoria for the race on 25 August, and vice versa for the race in Johannesburg on 24 September, making it easy for runners to participate in both events.”
“We want people to experience the convenience of the Gautrain for work, play, and running,” adds Kgobe. “The Gautrain will ensure that you arrive at the race hassle-free and on time, and then provide a relaxed trip home to recover.”
