GEORGIA HARDINGE // ANYANGO MPINGA – both Tuesday 17th May @ KFW LDN

Georgia Hardinge is inspired by new technologies and innovation. The brand incorporates a strong sculptural style bringing a 3dimentional approach to wearable pieces. This was recognised via the BFC who awarded her Contemporary Sponsorship for her unique work.

After launching her label in 2010, Georgia began to build her identity as a sculptural designer. Her inspiration for design comes from a passion for architectural shapes and structures, which is apparent throughout her work. She works on developing minimal pleating techniques from paper sculptures, combining this with sustainable fabrics and innovative textile techniques.

Since her London Fashion Week debut in S/S 2010 Georgia’s designs have been worn by some of the biggest names in the creative industry. Florence Welch, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys and Grimes are just a handful of celebrities that are fans of the brand.

Anyango Mpinga is a Kenyan cultural innovator championing intersectionality as a guiding principle in circular fashion. She founded her eponymous Contemporary Sustainable brand in 2015, now renowned for its reimagined white shirts; bold prints that pay homage to her multi-cultural heritage and size inclusive silhouettes. As a forward-thinking designer, Anyango is exploring the use of emerging technologies in textile design.

Having created a social enterprise, her initiative Free As A Human addresses the humanitarian and environmental crisis within the fashion industry, while supporting education programs for women affected by Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking. Anyango has also served as an Advocate and Mentor for the Swarovski Foundation Creatives for Our Future program, designed with the United Nations Office for Partnerships.

Kornit Fashion Week comes to London Sunday May 15th pm through to Tuesday May 17th pm by way of Covent Garden’s Freemasons’ Hall. Besides 12 fashion shows / presentations, further Kornit events showcasing how the intersection of design, digital transformation, and fashion are open for you to access – powering a shift towards nearshore production and virtually unlimited creativity.

Following successful runway events in Tel Aviv, New York, Milan and LA, Kornit Fashion Week on its London leg explores how the rules for fashion and textiles are being rewritten – transforming an industry typically plagued by pollution and overproduction to one that is sustainable, on-demand, and where the only limit is one’s imagination. Packed with immersive runway events produced by world-renowned fashion icon, producer and entrepreneur, Motty Reif, this three-day celebration will feature inspirational fashion from top designers – with collections created in weeks, not months, using digital production – and where beauty is celebrated in all its guises, with no boundaries in terms of age, colour, size, gender and sexuality.

You can register for and hear from real brands in panels and keynotes across a range of industry-critical topics – including the shift towards nearshore production, overcoming inventory and supply chain challenges, and powering unlimited creativity with a no-boundaries approach to production. Should you wish, a visit to Kornit’s Fashtech Innovation Center in East London is also open to you, which will additionally feature key demonstrations to highlight how on-demand, sustainable solutions are fueling nearshore models, creating significantly shorter production runs, and delivering leaner inventories – with designs going from ideation to production and shipping in just a few hours. We look forward to welcoming you May15-17th in London!
