Experience rural township life in the vibrant surrounding communities of Sun City Resort in the North West as the GM Kasi Ride returns to engage guests and community members in a day of fitness with a purpose.
The third annual GM Kasi Ride on October 27 aims to prioritise the importance of mental health, and features a choice of three activities tailored to all ages and levels of fitness and interest:
· Cycling: Choose from 43km or 21km routes
· Running: 21km or 10km challenges
· Fun Walk/Run: Enjoy a leisurely 5km stroll or run
The routes traverse Sun City and the surrounding villages of Mogwase, Mabele a Podi, and Ledig to give a truly local flavour to the day.
In addition to getting endorphins flowing, the GM Kasi Ride aims to foster community spirit and support mental health awareness, featuring educational talks from guest speakers who are experts in mental health, and screening tests by the Department of Health. This will be followed by an exciting line-up of entertainment, including performances by local artists.
“The GM Kasi Ride has become a highly anticipated event on Sun City’s annual calendar, which is remarkable for a Resort filled with weekly sport and entertainment offerings,” said Sun City General Manager Brett Hoppé. “The GM Kasi Ride is a unique event that brings our guests together with community members to promote physical fitness and mental health advocacy, all while having a lot of fun.”
The GM Kasi Ride embodies Sun City’s commitment to promoting health and wellness inclusively and making a difference in the communities in which it operates. “We invite everyone – from cycling and running clubs to schools and communities – to join us in making this event a memorable celebration of community while raising the importance of physical exercise and mental health.”
Participants on the day will enjoy free access into the Sun City Resort and a delicious boerewors roll and water or soft drink after the challenge.
The event is free to enter and is open to all ages. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants are encouraged to register at www.suncity.co.za.
