In collaboration with Catawiki, from 9 to 19 November, the team presents an exclusive auction housing the memorabilia of drivers who etched their mark in Scuderia AlphaTauri’s esteemed legacy.Iconic pieces from legendary icons Max Verstappen, fresh off his third championship title, embarked on his F1 journey in 2015 with Scuderia Toro Rosso. That year, he made history as the youngest-ever point scorer, rewriting F1 annals. Part of the auction is the equipment Verstappen wrote this racing milestone with – from his 2015 racing suit and under suit, to his balaclava and shoes – unique relics, unseen on the market and now available on Catawiki for motorsport enthusiasts worldwide. This auction is an impressive tour de force through Scuderia AlphaTauri’s history, it not only showcases Verstappen’s coveted items from his debut season but also treasures from other racing prodigies. Liam Lawson has emerged as a surprise this season, making his debut as a rookie standing in for Daniel Ricciardo and earning 2 points for the team. Considered one of the drivers to watch in the future, the racing suit he wore while scoring his first points is part of the auction. Carlos Sainz, Yuki Tsunoda, Daniil Kvyat, Jaime Alguersuari, and Nyck de Vries also each left their mark on the team, showcasing SAT’s continued commitment to cultivating future F1 legends. Alongside their racing apparel from the past seasons, car parts such as the AT01 chassis sidepod of Pierre Gasly, STR8 front rim and STR11 full front wing complete the list of items up for auction to fulfil fans’ desires.Among the gallery of F1 artefacts is the STR 11 show car from 2016, bedecked in Verstappen’s livery. This mockup car, synonymous with Verstappen’s swift ascent, offers fans an opportunity to own a tangible emblem of championship history. The car bears the legacy of the season, and resonates with the spirit of F1’s young phenom. Marc Jans, Formula 1 expert at Catawiki, remarked, “These items, especially from Verstappen’s rookie year, represent not just racing history but also potentially significant investments. As we have seen earlier this year with memorabilia of Carlos Sainz, items can quickly gain value following drivers’ growth on the track. Racing equipment and car parts of the Spanish driver were auctioned for double the price after his victory at the Singapore Grand Prix 2023. With emerging talents like Liam Lawson marking their debut, who knows what future value these artefacts could command.”Featuring more than 80 unique items, the fourth auction marking the partnership between Scuderia AlphaTauri and Catawiki merges the past’s reverence with the thrill of the present. It honours the legacy of the historic Italian racing team, pays homage to 3-time world champion Max Verstappen, and bridges fans with the sport’s iconic moments, allowing them to own a piece of the legend and history. A portion of the auction’s proceeds will be donated to the not-for-profit foundation Wings for Life, which is dedicated to finding a cure for spinal cord injury.
