Winnie Madikizela-Mandela “Mother of the Nation” celebrates her 78th Birthday today.
Wife of former president Nelson Mandela was honoured with many birthday wishes on social media on this morning from her own family and other well known South Africans.
President Jocob Zuma also sent birthday wishes to Madikizela-Mandela.
“We join the family in extending good wishes to Mama Winnie on her special day. We will always cherish and remember Mama Winnie’s fortitude, courage, determination and unwavering commitment to freedom and justice in spite of persecution, pain and hardship during the difficult days of the struggle against apartheid. She kept the flame of freedom alive and we are grateful that she witnessed the dawn of the liberation she fought so hard to achieve. On behalf of all the people of South Africa, we wish you good health and a long life Mama,” said Zuma.
Winnie’s grand son, Zuko Mandela also took to twitter to wish his grand mum happy birthday.
