RADISSON RED ROSEBANK’S HAPPY, HOPPY EASTER
The countdown to the Easter long weekend has begun. With a four-day weekend, the first signs of crisp autumn air and heaps of chocolate, it’s a time to indulge. While it would be great to survive on choccies alone, a scrumptious lunch surrounded by family and friends is par for the course. And Radisson RED Rosebank has got you covered with a delectable Easter Buffet Lunch and entertainment for the entire family, including your inner child!
The earthy colour palette at the OUIBar + KTCHN’s dining area adds to the locally inspired Easter menu, prepared by Chef Genghis San, known fondly around these parts as Chef G. “This year’s Easter menu was really a return to tradition – with a twist,” he says. “I wanted to capture a time when families gathered together around dishes that were plentiful while the chocolate-fantasy dessert buffet is my way of harking back to that child-like fascination with Easter bunnies and chocolate.”
And capture that essence is what he’s managed to do perfectly with a buffet spread straight from tales of yore.
Ease into the festivities with pan-fried calamari accompanied by a light lemon and garlic-dressed salad or an antipasti platter with local cold cuts, cheeses, pickles and dips. Or try Chef G’s take on the South African favourite, pickled fish, served on a cured fish platter with smoked salmon trout and ceviche of mussels. For mains, choose from three well-loved courses — stuffed chicken breasts with sundried tomato, feta, fresh basil and roasted garlic; sliced roast lamb topped with onion marmalade; and a selection of fish, shellfish, chorizo, rice and saffron paella — and a smorgasbord of sides: twice-backed spinach, butternut and three-cheese lasagna with basil pesto; scalloped potato; steamed Mediterranean vegetables; and crumbed eggplant topped with spicy tomato jam. What a mouthful!
Follow it up with a trip to the Easter Village where assorted petit fours, gingerbread houses, chocolate éclairs, Rooibos crème brûlée, coconut cream cake, strawberry and peppermint crisp tarts, hazelnut chocolate cake logs, mini meringues, chocolate eggs and bunnies, and fruit rolls surround a chocolate fountain.
Starting at 1 pm, lunch will be accompanied by the smooth sounds of artist Eli Amor Ada, who has performed across Asia, Europe and Africa, while a supervised Kids’ Corner and Easter Egg Hunt will keep the little ones busy.
