20 year old tri-lingual Afropop artist Highlyy shot into the limelight with her debut single “Solider” – a viral moment which has since seen her gain over 77 million streams. Now Highlyy’s instantly recognisable and unique Afro-Pop sound is truly ready for the world as she releases her debut project, the +243 EP.
The six track project will feature the previously released “Soldier”, “Peace”, and “Higher (C’est La Vie)”, as well as brand new tracks “Passion” ft. RSKO, “Pressure” ft. JayO and the project’s beautiful finalé and focus track, “Honest”.
Tracklist:
“PEACE”
“SOLDIER”
“HIGHER (C’EST LA VIE)”
“PASSION” FT. RSKO
“PRESSURE” FT. JAYO
“HONEST”
+243 lands in the wake of the Amapiano inspired “Higher (C’est La Vie)”, which is produced by Shae Jacobs (BTS, Spiderverse soundtrack, Teyana Taylor) and sees the young vocalist singing in English and French. It’s a feel-good anthem about believing in yourself at its core; but also a wider nod to Highlyy’s inimitable positivity and addictive happiness. A motivational and uplifting track, Highlyy reminds herself and girls around the world that no one can take their shine. The single lands alongside an incredible visual, which acknowledges Highlyy’s heritage, with every scene correlating to a colour in the Congolese flag.
Speaking on the project, Highlyy states:
“I am so excited for my 1st EP to FINALLY be out! It feels so surreal – I’m actually living my dreams!”
2023 was a busy year for Highlyy, who also featured on the official Lionesses anthem for the Women’s World Cup, and earlier this Summer, dropped the incredible “Times Like This”, and the beautiful “Peace”.
Moving from strength to strength, Highlyy’s current time in the music industry might be short; but her impact is far-reaching. Newly signed to Motown Records UK/ EMI, and with co-signs from the likes of Chris Brown, Rema, FLO, Ms Banks, Dave and more, Highlyy (real name Highly Blessed) has also supported the likes of Oxlade and Buju (BNXN) on the live circuit.
Of Congolese descent, Highlyy comes from a supremely musical family; her father plays the guitar and her mother sings. DNA aside, the Tik-tok viral star studied music at East London Arts and Music and has named Yxng Bane, Burna Boy, Tems and Chris Brown as influences on her music. Highlyy’s vocals effortlessly transition from French to English in her songwriting, creating an undeniably international appeal.
With British Vogue already hailing Highlyy as one to watch, the world is truly her oyster.
