The combined efforts of Fidelity ADT, Fidelity Services Group and SAPS flying squad with support from other security companies has led to the recovery of a hijacked vehicle within 24 hours.

On Wednesday 26 June at approximately 11:24, Fidelity ADT Community Operations Manager Zakariyyaa Laher received a call from Fidelity Officer, Peet Payne notifying him that a vehicle hijacked the previous day had been spotted in the Lenasia South area.

Laher says “We immediately proceeded to Lenasia South at the given location and were first on the scene. Upon further investigation, a white Opel Bakkie was spotted parked behind a wall.

Upon further inspection, the team discovered a house and an outbuilding. “We began by clearing the outbuilding, where we found one suspect. We then moved to the main house, apprehending a woman and two men. Another suspect was found concealed beside a bed,” Laher added.

All Suspects were apprehended and handed over to SAPS flying squad.

The recovered vehicle had already been stripped of its signage, and its number plates had been changed. Upon verification of the vehicle’s VIN number, it was confirmed to be the same vehicle hijacked the day before.

Charnel Hattingh Group Head of Marketing & Communications for Fidelity ADT says, “I commend our officers for their vigilance and quick action. Working together with SAPS and other security companies sends a strong message to criminals that crime will not be tolerated,” concludes Hattingh.
