Download assets here Off the back of winning Best Mixtape at the NME Awards 2022 for her critically acclaimed second EP ‘The Walls Are Way Too Thin’, Holly Humberstone today reveals the official video to poignant new single ‘London Is Lonely’. Capturing the darkness of the city Holly now calls home, the UK’s most exciting alt-pop star gives a stunning, lucid performance in an abandoned London Underground station, portraying the themes of isolation and disconnect. Winning the prestigious BRITs Rising Star this year, Holly gave a breathtaking performance of ‘London Is Lonely’ live at the awards show, which was the very first time she has ever stepped foot into the O2 Arena and played to thousands in the crowd and millions at home. Following in the footsteps of global superstars including Adele, Florence + The Machine, Sam Fender and Griff, Holly’s Rising Star win marks the start of a colossal year for the Grantham born star, having just commenced the Girl In Red USA support tour. Next month, Holly will join fellow BRIT winner Olivia Rodrigo on her huge USA tour, with the pair having met at the BRIT Awards ceremony earlier this year. Playing two nights at Radio City in New York from 26th April 2022, Holly is the artist to watch this festival season, making appearances at Coachella, Primavera, Best Kept Secret, Splendour in the Grass, and recently announced Glastonbury Festival. |
WATCH HOLLY’S ‘LONDON IS LONELY’ BRITS PERFORMANCE “I wanted this video to sum up how I felt when I first moved to London, when I was spinning out of control and awaiting an imminent collision. It looks like a lucid dream as I try to remain centred.” – Says Holly Humberstone on the official video.“I wrote London Is Lonely back in February 2020 right before the pandemic hit here in the UK. I had just moved out of my childhood home down to London and had spent the past few months feeling really trapped and alone in my tiny flat with strangers. London felt so intense and although there were so many people around me, I felt even more isolated and like I didn’t belong. I kind of lost myself in the city. I didn’t exactly know who I was anymore, and so going home and writing felt like my safe space to process everything. It’s funny now listening to the song almost two years on, post-pandemic, and feeling like nothing much has changed at all. I’m still trying to find my place here and make it my home and so it felt right to put this song out into the world right now, when so many other people are probably feeling lost right now too.” |
