Host of ‘The Daily Show’, Trevor Noah recently met with Nigerian author Chimamanda Adichie at the PEN and he had sweets words to describe the encounter. He shared a photo of them laughing with the caption:
‘An honour and such a joy meeting @chimamanda_adichie. I’ve learned so much from this amazing woman’s work but I never knew we’d have so much fun debating, arguing and laughing. #WeShouldAllBeFeminists‘.
Chimamanda Adichie and Trevor Noah at PEN World Voices Festival on the 3rd of May, discussed how their multiple identities shape their views of the world, and how they balance adapting to new communities and staying true to themselves and their work.
The backdrop of the discussion, almost six months after the White House changed administrations, was to talk about the importance of free speech in its most literal definition. The freedom to tell stories in specific context of their experiences as African authors, with largely White audiences, was a resounding theme of the evening.
