Iman Copper Toned Goddess

Must read

Iman Mohamed Abdulmajid, mononymously known as Iman, fashion model, actress, entrepreneur. A pioneer in the field of ethnic cosmetics is aging so amazingly. We just had to bring a spotlight on this awesome mahogany goddess.

The beauty has graced many a covers, runways and television screens and continues to look, if not better than when she first debuted in 1976.

With her long neck, tall stature, slender figure, fine features, copper-toned skin, and exotic accent, Iman was an instant success in the fashion world, though she herself insists that her looks are merely or typically Somali. She became a muse for many prominent designers, including Halston, Gianni Versace, Calvin Klein, Issey Miyake and Donna Karan, A favorite of Yves Saint-Laurent, he once described her as his “dream woman.

It is marvelous and heartwarming to see a woman that was faced with a challenge with cosmetics for her skin tone, turn that challenge to serve her in the long run and make her into a multimillion dollar empire. Ladies I do believe we need to pay close attention on this one.

On Iman’s first runway debut she was told to bring her own foundation as they did not have shades close to her tone, she resorted to taking various shades mixing them up to get a shade close enough to match her own. I believe that invoked enough fire in her to see her being the woman she is today and launching her own cosmetics line in 1994 focusing on difficult to find shades for ethnic women.

She has aged gracefully and still remains a role model that many look up to and aspire to reach her stature one day.
