Ireland is set to return to Soldier Field, Chicago, to face the All Blacks in a highly anticipated rematch as part of the action-packed November 2025 International Series. The announcement on Tuesday confirmed that the two teams will meet at the iconic venue on November 1, nearly a decade after Ireland’s historic first victory over New Zealand.
In November 2016, Ireland secured a memorable 40-29 win over the All Blacks in Chicago—breaking their 111-year wait for a victory in the 29th meeting between the sides. Since then, the teams have clashed nine times, with Ireland winning four encounters and New Zealand triumphing in five, including a 23-13 win in Dublin last November.

“The 2016 match at Soldier Field stands as one of the greatest moments in Irish Rugby history,” said IRFU CEO Kevin Potts. “The rivalry that has developed between Ireland and New Zealand is a testament to the quality, passion, and mutual respect between both teams.”
Following the showdown in Chicago, New Zealand will travel to Britain to take on Scotland, England, and Wales in the Autumn Nations Series. Meanwhile, Ireland will host Japan, Australia, and South Africa in Dublin.
Ireland previously defeated South Africa in the pool stage of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, but the Springboks went on to defend their title, edging New Zealand 12-11 in the final. The reigning world champions will also face France for the first time since their dramatic 29-28 quarter-final victory on French soil. Additionally, South Africa will meet Italy and Wales as part of their series fixtures.
Elsewhere, England will face the All Blacks, Australia, Fiji, and Argentina, aiming for a stronger performance after last year’s disappointing campaign, which saw them fall to New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa, with their only win coming against Japan.
