There is a new hero in White Hart Lane these days….
After piercing through the hearts of Arsenal fans in the last North London derby and scoring 19 goals in the league so far this season,
Harry Kane has turned the heads of some prominent figures in the world of football including that of England’s coach Roy Hodgson.
It did not take the 21 year old much time to respond to his International call up as the Spurs striker hit the back of the net just 78 seconds into his debut against Lithuania over the weekend.
Over the years, the English national side has had a reputation of being a very talented side – on paper at least. In goal, they have a goalkeeper in Joe Hart who is one of the best in the world. In midfield, they have an embarrassment of talent while up front they have the likes of Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge.
Despite all this, they still struggle to succeed in major tournaments. So many analysts have become skeptical of English football. The debate of whether the media is responsible for overhyping England is still very much ongoing so much so that even an obvious talent like Harry Kane’s ability is questioned: Is he just a flash in the pan or is he the real deal?
Only time will tell if he is in the class of Michael Owen, Alan shearer and the legendary Sir Bobby Charlton. However, based on current form, harry Kane the “hurricane” is looking like he is the explosive spark England is missing upfront.
Let’s see if this bold statement can be backed up by his performance when he starts for England against Italy later on tonight.
