Zuma’s salary increased from R2.62-million to R2.75-million despite strong opposition from other parties against the President’s salary increase.
They said that the money spent on the President’s Nkandla homestead amounted to a 100-year salary advance.
EFF chief whip Floyd Shivambu said his party rejected Zuma’s salary increase. “We pay for everything that Zuma does. We feed, we dress him, we pay his legal fees. We even pay for his cattle kraal We even pay for his many wives.”
The Democratic Alliance was also opposed to the increase.
“Do you believe that the President deserves an increase? His salary over and above, residence, family assistance, protection & transport etc?”
