South Africa’s favourite, 3 time Afri-Indie award-winning gospel duo, Jacques & Liezel, is back again with a brand-new heartfelt gospel single ‘Need You more’, just a few months after their chart-topping single ‘Moving On’.
NEED YOU MORE is a powerful worship song which is an honest, heartfelt cry-out prayer for more of God.
“This song was born during a very hard period of my own personal life. It was written just after my divorce in lockdown. I sat down one day at my piano with tears running down my face, crying out to God in worship & prayer standing on Psalm 34:18 promise that says: “He is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit”. In Isaiah 41:10 it says: “Fear not, He is with you always”. I felt like I had no one, except God to run to & help me pull through the storm. I needed Him more than ever. Later Liezel and I sat down to finish the song” says Jacques.
The duo believes the single appeals to a wide audience as we all face trials & tribulations here on earth.
They want to encourage listeners to stand on God’s promises & seek Him more daily, knowing that as John 16:33 states: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
NEED YOU MORE is the duo’s fifth single and follows in the footsteps of Moving On, Vashou, Uit My Hande and Wonder van Kersfees, which all charted on several major radio stations.
A music video is also planned for the single, which the duo is keeping a surprise.
Currently they are working on new Afrikaans songs as well as leading worship across the country.
In addition to music, Jacques also enjoys restoring old cars & motorcycles, spending time with his son and leading worship together with Liezel.
Liezel was part of the gospel group, Onbeskaamd, and has produced one Ghoema nominated album.
When she is not singing, she likes horse-riding, photography and spending time with her loved ones.
