JANNIE MOOLMAN AND HELENÈ BESTER RELEASE THE FIRST OF THREE SONGS TOGETHER
What happens when two popular musicians collaborate to celebrate the wonder of nature with the release of a captivating new single?
An incredible song is created that promises to impress music lovers just as much as the beautiful desert they are singing about.
NAG IN DIE NAMIB complements Jannie Moolman and Helenè Bester’s beautiful soothing voices perfectly and is one of those songs that gets stuck in your head immediately after hearing it for the first time.
This modern Afrikaans folk track, which Jannie wrote with Dewald Gouws, celebrates the beauty of the Namib Desert and God’s overall creation.
“The song was written during lockdown. It is based on a poem that Oom Arend gave me in the 90’s,” Jannie shares. “I have kept it all of these years and promised myself that I was going to write a song about it someday… and that someday is now.”
According to the singer, the song contains a message of hope and emphasises our relationship with Mother Nature.
“Our voices sound good together and the song is positive and motivational; something fresh and unique in Afrikaans,” adds Helenè.
The musicians have known each other for a while and decided to join forces after Vonk Musiek’s Kobie Koen suggested that they do a duet. “He said that our voices would complement each other, and we agreed to record this beautiful song that means so much to Jannie,” she shares.
Jannie and Helenè both enjoyed working together and are looking forward to performing together over the next couple of months.

Over the years, he has been part of several Operas and other stage productions (locally and overseas) and has had the opportunity of performing at music concerts and festivals like KKNK, Aardklop, Huisgenoot Skouspel and many more.

The singer released his first solo album in 2003, after which many hits followed – including his most recent success, Hou aan met glo, which he co-wrote with Dewald Gouws, and got nominated for an Aitsa Music Award.
In an attempt to survive lockdown, the artist tried his hand at selling meat at the farmer’s market and being a real-estate agent for Remax.
These days he enjoys being back on stage, hunting, playing golf and working as a presenter on Harties FM, an online radio station.
Helenè Bester has been working in the local entertainment industry since 2002 and is best-known as a singer, songwriter, voice artist and television presenter.

She has also worked as a television presenter on shows like Droomhuis and Revue (judge).
In 2016, she decided to enter the children’s market with the release of her album, Helenè Bester and Kristi Kat op die plaas, followed by the Kristi Kat videos on YouTube and several performances at schools across the country.
One of the highlights of her career so far was to pay tribute to Nana Mouskouri with a stage production by Lefra Productions and to release a single – ‘n Storie van Eerstes – with her brother, Cobus Bester.
Helenè also gives singing lessons and also does voice and radio work.
