On the 7th of April, 2016, the Galaxy Studio at Nelson Mandela Square was buzzing with photo Journalists, reporters and gadget-obsessed tech-lovers. The event for the official launch of Samsung Galaxy’s S7Edge was graced by none other than the jaw-droppingly beautiful, Minnie Dhlamini and the ever so lively, DJ Fresh.
The S7 with other devices such as the Gear VR, Gear S2 and the Gear 360 were also on display. The Gear VR’s amazing 4D feature and the 360 degree camera on the Gear 360’s was particularly mind-blowing to me.
In my capacity as a reporter, I had the privilege of interviewing the brand ambassadors, Minnie Dhlamini and DJ Fresh. DJ Fresh graciously honored my “ladies first” rule and waited patiently while I interviewed Minnie.
“I have been working with Samsung for a year and a half now. I really wanted to see what is happening with the launch of the S7,”Minnie said when asked about what lured her to the event.
“I am so excited to be here and getting my fans to come out and share this awesome experience with me. I have used the S7: It is absolutely amazing; it is as beautiful as the S6.One of the incredible features of this phone is that I can take pictures under water. The camera quality is better than the S6 which I actually did not think is possible. My favorite thing is taking pictures when I go to events and sometimes if the lighting is not good, you not able to take a great picture and the S7 has really combated that challenge. So I can take incredible pictures for my instagram and my social media. It is such an incredible phone. It has taken technology to the next level so everything is bigger, brighter and better,” said Minnie in excitement.
“The virtual reality is unbelievable; that is the device you put on your face .It transports you into a new world, where you not only watching something you are experiencing it firsthand. It is undoubtedly the future of film and Television,” she added.
DJ Fresh echoed her thoughts when he shared his experience of the Virtual reality with me “I have tried the 4D theatre with the head sets. It is Insane! The 4dimensional feature is just crazy. If you are watching a roller coaster, you feel like you actually on the roller coaster. You literally almost feel the G-forces from just 4 dimensions of the headset.”
“I am still on the Galaxy S6; I am hoping to get on the S7 later,” DJ Fresh revealed when asked about the new phones.
Not only was my day made by meeting Minnie Dhlamini and DJ Fresh, I was excited by where Samsung was taking technology to. From the event one got a sense of where the brand had come from, where the brand is now and where they are going. I got to see the history of the Samsung devices and how far the device has come over the years. There are so many extra features and new gadgets that transport one to a completely different world. The future of technology is looking inconceivably bright and Samsung happens to be at the fore front of that.
