John Terry: Chelsea defender to leave Stamford Bridge
Chelsea captain John Terry is not being offered a new contract and will leave the club at the end of the season.
The 35-year-old defender, who joined the club at the age of 14, has won four Premier League titles, five FA Cups and the Champions League with the Blues.
“Ideally I would have loved to stay, but the club’s moving in a different direction,” he said.
Terry has played 696 times for the Blues and hopes to continue his career, but not with another English club.
“I couldn’t play for another Premier League club. It will be elsewhere for sure,” added the former England captain.

A fizzing Ronaldo strike made it 4-0 by half-time, and he completed a hat-trick by heading in a Jese cross, before Oscar Duarte scored a late own goal.

The 28-year-old is the first German to win a major singles title since Steffi Graf at the 1999 French Open.
Williams, 34, was beaten for just the fifth time in 26 Grand Slam finals, and the American missed the chance to tie Graf’s open-era record of 22 titles.
Kerber, who saved a match point in her first-round win over Misaki Doi, will move up to number two in the world rankings.

James Taylor and Jonny Bairstow are far from guaranteed places in England’s best one-day side but both staked a strong claim for inclusion in the series against South Africa with commanding displays in yesterday’s warm-up game.
Taylor made a run-a-ball century and Bairstow, here primarily as back-up keeper to Jos Buttler, hit six sixes in his 58 as England demolished South Africa A by 163 runs in a performance that augers well for the five-match one-day series.
