Polokwane – Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema reportedly had charges of assault and malicious damage to property laid against him after an alleged road rage incident.
According to a report in the Beeld newspaper on Wednesday police confirmed charges were laid against Malema after he reportedly slapped and damaged the vehicle of Polokwane man, Bernard Redelinghuys.
Redelinghuys reportedly posted on Facebook that Malema and two others traveling in a vehicle almost crashed into his car. Redelinghuys said he told them to watch out and when the two cars stopped at traffic lights Malema and the two men he was with got out of the vehicle and approached Redelinghuys.
A scuffle reportedly ensued as one of the men allegedly grabbed Redelinghuys’s arm and the other allegedly tried to remove the keys from his car.
Malema allegedly also slapped Redelinghuys and threatened him saying, “We will f*** you up!”
According to the report Malema was not available for comment.
