Justin Bieber, whose net worth is estimated to be approximately $265 million, was so in love with Hailey Baldwin and so ready to be married that the two didn’t bother signing a prenup agreement before going to a New York City courthouse to be hitched, or so Us Weekly is claiming via a legal insider.
As of now, there are no documents that establish separate property or financial rights should Jailey ever part ways.
Baldwin and Bieber have not confirmed they’re married yet though, making their official relationship status a little murky currently.
On Friday, People reported via multiple sources that Baldwin and Bieber didn’t just go to get a license to wed at Manhattan’s Marriage Bureau Thursday; they got married there civilly, too. Baldwin, that afternoon, tweeted that she and Bieber weren’t married yet.
People doubled down and specified that while Jailey is legally married through a civil ceremony, the couple doesn’t see themselves as married until they have a religious ceremony.
A day after all this came out, Baldwin quietly deleted her marriage correction tweet from Instagram. Make of that what you will
It’s not too late for the Biebs and Baldwin to protect their respective fortunes (Baldwin is estimated to be worth $2 million). The two can sign a postnuptial agreement, which does the same thing as a prenup (only it’s done post-marriage.)
In fact, seems likely as The Sun reported on Friday that Bieber’s team is working on it. “They didn’t tell anyone on their teams what was going on and his people have been frantically trying to get his business affairs and finances in order,” a source told the outlet.
In its initial report, People also suggested the whole thing was a surprise even to their nearest and dearest. “They went ahead and did it without listening to anyone,” a source close to the couple told the outlet that day.
Since Justin and Hailey’s courthouse visit seemed to come out of nowhere, we can understand why his financial team would be feeling blindsided and working their hardest to get things on track.
There’s nothing quite like putting love first and that seems to be exactly what Justin and Hailey have been doing since getting engaged two months ago.
From going on random trips to their most recent visit to the courthouse, the young couple seem to be living in their own love-fueled world and that may or may not be considered smart depending on who’s judging!
Justin and Hailey have been making headlines since they were seen going in the courthouse and although Hailey took to social media to claim she’s not married yet, many sources say when it comes to legalities, they are indeed husband and wife.
Now that the legal part is done, the lovebirds are reportedly planning a romantic wedding that could take place within the next week.
