JUSTUS BENNETTS DROPS BREEZY “DON’T TRIP (WITH GAYLE)” AHEAD OF JOINT TOUR DATES LISTEN HERE AND WATCH HERE |
Today, Justus Bennetts unveils the magnetic new single and video “Don’t Trip” with teen hitmaker GAYLE. The acoustic alt-pop DIY anthem thrives on the same introspective hooks, unapologetic lyrics, and brash vocal delivery that propelled both self-made artists to stardom. Listen HERE and watch the Lillie Wojick (JP Saxe, ILLENIUM, Chelsea Cutler) directed music video HERE. “Don’t Trip” finds the North Carolina newcomer observing his peers’ questionable behavior while remaining true to himself. He was once overcome by loneliness—“I used to want to have a conversation every night, would always search for someone to fill the hole in my life”—but now he opts for carefree living. His collaborator is of a similar mindset. “All my friends keep hitting me up, they’re sick of waiting for replies,” GAYLE belts in her verse, later joining Justus for the chorus: “‘Cause it takes me so much time just to make up my own mind.”The lighthearted video was filmed at Cindy’s Eagle Rock in Los Angeles —a traditional American 1950s style diner. Together, Justus and GAYLE vibe as disgruntled diner employees living their lives to the fullest – indulging on a patron’s meal, kicking their feet up on the walls, and having a full-on dance party in the kitchen —pots and pans galore. |

Similarly, GAYLE has rocked to prominence via “abcdefu.” The Gold-certified breakup anthem broke through to the top 10 of Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart and boosted the 17-year-old breakout sensation to the top of coveted charts such as Billboard Global 200 and Emerging Artists. GAYLE has racked up over 925 million streams to date. “Don’t Trip” arrives as Justus prepares to join GAYLE for ten shows on her Feeling It Together Tour. ABOUT GAYLE: Fearlessly honest and undeniably magnetic, 17-year-old singer/songwriter GAYLE creates the kind of self-possessed pop music that’s empowering for both artist and audience. Since making her debut with the boldly confessional “dumbass”—a heavily playlisted track that premiered in early 2020—the Nashville-based musician has independently released a series of singles built on her unfiltered yet beautifully nuanced brand of songwriting. Now signed to Atlantic Records/Arthouse Records, GAYLE is gearing up to share a new batch of songs revealing her larger-than-life personality and willingness to expose her deepest insecurities and desires. Her now RIAA Gold-certified debut Atlantic single “abcdefu” has racked up over 925M streams to date and hit #6 on Billboard’s “Hot 100” after reaching #1 on a range of charts, including sitting at #1 for four consecutive weeks on the Billboard Global 200 and #1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts for 6 weeks and counting. Recently featured as YouTube’s “Artist On The Rise,” an Amazon “Artist to Watch 2022,” an MTV February “Global Push Artist,” and one of Billboard’s “21 Under 21: The Ones To Watch,” further press highlights include a Billboard magazine Chartbreakers feature that highlights GAYLE’s chart-topping success with “abcdefu.” GAYLE made her late night network TV debut earlier this year with a captivating interview and electrifying performance of “abcdefu” on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Her follow-up track “ur just horny” is set to be another success, amassing over 15M streams in just the first month of its release. Currently at work on her debut project, GAYLE is intent on making music that offers her listeners a certain emotional freedom. |
