Singer and actor Kelly Khumalo and her family has finally broken their silence by sending out a condolences write up to Senzo’s family, after the murder of Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa in their home in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni on Sunday night.
“Kelly Khumalo and her family would like to express their sincere condolences to the Meyiwa family for the loss of Senzo Meyiwa, who was tragically shot at their family home in Vosloorus, in the presence of Kelly’s family [her mother Ntombi, sister Zandi, and son Christian] Tumelo and Mthoko [Senzo’s friends] and Longwe Twala,” read the statement.
“This has been an incredibly traumatic experience for the Khumalo family. As the law takes its course, they request that they be given space and privacy to deal with this tragedy; and they thank you for the prayers and support.”
Meyiwa is married to his wife, Mandisa but had being reportedly being in an on-off again relationship with Khumalo, the mother of Meyiwa’s 10 months old child.
Meyiwa’s father, Sam, told the the New Age newspaper he did not want Khumalo at his son’s funeral:
“The service is open to anyone who wants to come to pay their last respects to Senzo, but that girl [Kelly Khumalo] is not welcome. She mustn’t even think about coming,” Meyiwa’s father, Samuel was quoted as saying.
The singer is distraught and destroyed, mourning the loss of her boyfriend. She has spoken to no one except her trusted friend and biographer Melinda Ferguson.
