Hoofddorp in the Netherlands was the centre of fascination last month, as KYOCERA Document Solutions Europe scooped the prestigious international standard ISO 27001 certification. The international standard ISO 27001, formerly known as ISO/IEC 27001:2005, is a specification for information security management system (ISMS). This milestone demonstrates KYOCERA’s unflinching pledge to data security, not only in Europe, but worldwide amidst the constant cyber-attacks in recent times.
BSI (British Standards Institution), the awarding institution arrived at this decision after a rigorous, systematic and thorough audit of KYOCERA’s hardware and software, as well as its processes in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for a period of 12 months.
BSI has been in existence since 1901. Its mandate is to equip businesses with the necessary solutions to turn standards of best practice into habits of excellence. It was the first National Standards Body globally to initiate the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO). Presently, it is a key player in business advisory, by assisting businesses drive performance, manage systemic, financial and political risk and grow sustainably through helping them to adopt ISO. KYOCERA is therefore delighted for this certification, as it implies that the organisation strives for business excellence.

This important achievement marks a new chapter in South Africa and Africa, as this new certification gives control back to businesses and government departments, thereby helping ensure maximum protection of sensitive and confidential data.
