Learners encouraged to “go to school” after school lessons with Sun International stationary donation
Supporting SMME supplier while uplifting education

Continuing their drive to support education in South Africa as part of their socio-economic development programmes, hospitality group Sun International has donated R75,000 worth of stationery to a Diepsloot non-profit organisation.
Since 2016, Khensani’s Collection has provided education and hope to children from grade 1 to 12, operating from God’s Will Ministry Church in Diepsloot, Johannesburg. The learners attend schools in the surrounding areas and take extra classes at Khensani’s Collection after normal school hours to aid their education. Their focus is on maths, English and science, with other programmes for Grade 8 to 12s including career guidance, coaching and mentoring, computers and entrepreneurship skills.
The donation, which included white board markers, rulers, pencils, books, exam pads, sharpeners, pens, glue sticks, mathematical sets and scientific calculators, was provided by both Sun International’s Central office and staff.
“We really appreciate Sun International’s generosity. This will go a long way to support our students with their school needs,” said Khensani’s Collection Managing Director, Diana Musara.
Sun International’s preferred black-owned stationary supplier, Geleza, meaning ‘go to school’, has its own scientific calculator designed by founder Mothupi Kgopa, a mathematician who has played a key role in getting many schools achieve 100% in mathematics through mentoring of teachers.
“By supporting Geleza, we have also supported an SMME with this handover, so it is a win for the community and for small, black-owned businesses,” said Sun International’s Socio-Economic Specialist, Heidi Edson.
