LEN MULLER RELIVES OLD SCHOOL MEMORIES IN NEW MUSIC VIDEO
Not everyone gets the opportunity to relive their childhood memories as an adult, but when you do you have to make it count, and that is exactly what the soulful singer-songwriter, Len Muller, does in his latest music video.
JY MOET WEET, an upbeat Afrikaans acoustic track from his own pen, was released at the end of last year and can still be heard on the radio. However, he took his time with the music video to create a thoughtful platform for the song.
“I have an old school buddy, Ryno Turketti, with whom I used to go surfing when we were young. We’ve known each other for two decades and used to spent hours in the water and made the best memories,” he says. “Since then, we both got married and had children of the same age. The video was actually just an excuse to go on a surf outing and Nico Welgemoed just happened to be there to capture it on camera.”
The video was filmed on the most beautiful unspoiled beaches on the West Coast, north of Lamberts Bay, and encourages the viewer to live life to the fullest and seek adventures… even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone.
Since launching his solo career, a decade ago, there has been many highlights in Len’s career. He not only had the opportunity to collaborate with big names in the music industry, but also released three successful albums and established himself as a songwriter.
He is best-known for his hit, Vrede, which was used as the theme song of the kykNET sitcom, Mense Mense and was nominated for a Huisgenoot Tempo Award for Song of the Year.
When the versatile Capetonian is not busy with his own music, he manages bookings for artists like Juan Boucher and Danie du Toit (Reënwolf).
In addition to writing songs for other artists, he also tries performing as much as possible.
Len admits that he is thankful for the opportunity to capture JY MOET WEET in such a special way and that he really enjoyed working on this project.
“It was just what I needed, and I never thought that I would get a chance to relive those memories again. Sometimes you get to a point in your life where you feel over responsible and want to be and do too much. That is when you should hit the pause button and re-evaluate what’s important. I was very sick the day before the shoot and thought about cancelling everything, but then I decided to push through and take a chance on this adventure,” he concludes.
The single is available on all digital platforms.
