Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema dedicated his party’s election results on Saturday to the over 200 Nigerian school girls abducted by militants in the north of the country.
“We dedicate this victory to our beautiful girls in Nigeria. It looks impossible, but we have proved what looks impossible is possible,” he said while briefing media at the Electoral Commission of SA’s (IEC) national results operations centre in Pretoria.
“Africa needs to grow and there are other means of protest…please return the girls.”
The tactics used by Islamic militant group Boko Haram, were “stupid” and “undermined the intelligence of the African people”.
The schoolgirls were kidnapped from a school in Chibok in north-eastern Borno state by Boko Haram on April 14.
Another eight girls were kidnapped by the group on Tuesday.
