The grandson of Nelson Mandela, Mandla Mandela, has rejected a challenge to a debate with EFF leader Julius Malema, saying the only debate worth having is over what brand of soap would best wash out Malema’s mouth.
He added that if Malema wanted a debate about Nelson Mandela’s legacy he should apologise for his poor behaviour, read books, improve his arguments and stop destroying the confidence of the people.
Mandela, who is chief of the Mvezo, said Malema had once again achieved his goal of attracting attention at the cost of the country’s reputation, referring to a stinging attack on his grandfather in a recent speech to the Oxford Union, in the UK.
“He insults me and my grandfather, and now he wants to have a debate. I will not create platforms for his publicity-seeking,” he said.
