Universal Music Group SA is proud to drop the perfect summertime bop with the chilled house track, My Heart. My Home.
Written and produced by KZN-based producer Matt Davies, the track collaborates with fellow producer and performer Masuda, Afro-pop singer Zinhle Madela and long-time collaborator and friend, saxophonist and producer Tim Lewis.
This all-fire combination brings sexy house vocals to an amapiano-inspired beat, fusing English and Zulu lyrics to create the perfect crossover track for Mzansi audiences. Inspired by the perfect love companion, the soul partner that makes one feel at home and ultimately, brings the most happiness, My Heart. My Home has a feel-good energy that carries pure joy to the listener. It’s a message that most people can relate to on some level.
Matt Davies reflects on what was going on he wrote the song, “I had just played a huge festival which was my biggest crowd yet – and I remember looking out and wondering where my fiancé was”, he states. It’s this need to share life’s highlights with another person that inspired the lyrics and getting to hear his heartfelt lyrics sung in Zulu as well as English makes the track even more special to Matt. “I am so grateful for the amount of work that Zinhle, Masuda and Tim put into this piece. There was a lot of back and forth with the production until we were all happy”, he states.
After only two official years as a musician, Matt Davies has managed to make some pretty big waves in the music industry. Playing to audiences of over 20 000 alongside his collaborators on this track was definitely a highlight, and on his short path to success many highlights have been shared with Tim Lewis. Tim has been Matts working partner on previous hit tracks such as Night & Day, Just Be Here and Shakin’ in my Shoes, all of which have seen immense commercial radio success.
