MATT GARDINER DROPS OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO FOR HIS SINGLE, “BELIEVER”
KZN-born, Matt Gardiner has dropped the official music video for his latest single, “Believer”. Set with a stunning backdrop of the ocean, Matt shares more about his experience while filming – “Filming the music video was a really awesome experience, and I absolutely loved it! I thought I was going to feel so awkward in front of the camera because I’m an absolute nerd.”
Teaming up with his friend, Tyler Walker, for the music video shows that team work makes the dream work. “Tyler had this amazing idea and concept, he told me about it and I knew it was perfect. We went down to the beach and shot it super early in the morning so the sunlight was just right. He’s ridiculously talented and I can’t wait for the next one with him!”

Sharing more on the song itself, Matt explains that ‘Believer’ has two meanings. “The more obvious one is believing in yourself, because anything is possible, anything in the world. I believe everybody deserves at least the chance to live their dream, and that’s something I’m really passionate about. The more deep meaning is a lot more thought provoking. During lockdown, we didn’t really have anything else to do other than to try and see what everybody else was doing to keep busy when we weren’t allowed to go anywhere. I started to notice a lot more people speaking up and talking about mental health issues, how they were being abused, how violence was taking over, including gender based violence. I know all of this was there long before the pandemic, but I think because of how much we were on our phones it became a lot more apparent. Seeing all of this made me feel sick, and I honestly couldn’t believe how many of our fellow humans could behave so disgustingly. Believer was born because I believe that if all of us chose to be better for even 1 day, the world would be a better, more beautiful place.”
As someone who has been in the music industry for years now, Matt’s best piece of advice for up and coming artists would be to ‘never give up’ and ‘always be yourself’. “Music is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and it is the most powerful thing that I know. Keep pushing, it’s worth it!”
