Meet The Finalists In The Battle Of The Bands!

It’s week four of the Battle of the Bands at Liberty Midlands Mall! And this Saturday, August 10th, the pressure is on for the finalist bands and artists as they vie for the title. The mall’s epic Battle of the Bands event has seen some extremely inspiring performances by the province’s exciting new musical talents, who each week have taken to the stage to compete for the grand prize of R10 000 and the opportunity to perform future gigs at the mall

Last weekend, Saturday, August 3rd saw bands Brown Jam and Many Moore go through to the next round.

The first band Brown Jam, formed 10 years ago, and consists of Nathaniel Charles on drums, Nathaniel Naidoo on piano/synths, Timothy Naidoo on guitar and vocals, and Jordan Govender on bass.  Aside from the band, each of the guys have very impressive music careers. Timothy has played on numerous records and is in the process of recording his debut album. Nathaniel has travelled extensively around the world drumming for many artists and has opened for Lloyd Cele, Loyiso and others. Jordan resided in England and contributed to many recordings and now also has his own recording studio in Pietermaritzburg.

Many Moore has also made it too the next level of the competition! Made up of Lindani Lee Dlalisa, Thulani Headship Ngcobo and Andile Maestro Sikhakhana describes their music as strong, urban, and poetic soul music, featuring fresh tones that connect with their audiences and spreads messages of hope and unity in their lyrics. Career highlights include playing at the Gandhi memorial, Poetry Africa, Outlands Musical Festival in Mooi River, Durban Pride, Drakondale Music in the park, as well as weddings and private functions to name a few.

This Saturday, August 10th six soloists ranging from acoustic, folk, rock, pop, reggae, classical, alternative, Afro and jazz are on the line-up this weekend to battle it out. Sthe.M, Lindo Summer, Zakhele Majola, Black Afrika, Matt Gardiner and Prwley Ghost will go head to head to see who makes it through to the next round.
