The popular Afrikaans performer Michaels Heyns has released his new single, “Tussen Hier en Die Kaap” this week – the second single off his current album.
“It’s a song about a broken heart and the recovery from it! We’ve all had a broken heart at some stage – it’s very relatable” says Heyns. “When I heard the song the first time, I knew right away I wanted to record it and include it on my album. It spoke to me immediately – and I hope you have the same connection listening to it!”.
Michael Heyns is no stranger to the music industry. His background includes TV work with legendary Carike Keuzenkamp in the 1980s, and his own performances with Bobby Angel. He eventually followed a career in the financial sector, but music was always going to be a part of his journey. Making the album was just a question of time.

“My passion for music has never stopped, I made contact with renowned vocal coach Amanda Luyt to help me achieve my singing goals. She, in turn, introduced me to Harold Schenk, a successful producer who has worked with Coenie de Villiers and Danie Niehaus. Harold and Amanda continuously pushed me and motivated me. After a lot of work, the album Tussen Hier en die Kaap was born. With this album, I’m looking to create a slightly more mature Afrikaans music genre, something slightly left of centre of the popular mainstream.”
The single “Tussen Hier en die Kaap” – the title track – is now available on all digital platforms.
