Sport presenter Minenhle Dlamini has now officially entered womanhood.
Over the festive season the TV personality had her Umhlonyane.
She shared pictures of the ceremony and celebrations on social media.
Umhlonyane, is a Zulu rite of passage for a girl celebrating her reaching womanhood.
The ceremony involves slaughtering a goat for her by the by the head of family.
Before the actual ceremony, a girl is hidden under the sheets and kept away from other people a week before the ceremony and only elder women allowed to come and give the girl life advices and give blessings.
The day before the ceremony girl’s the same age come and stay with her and they apply a ‘white soil’ on their body, on the day of the ceremony they wake up and go to the river to bath and on their way back to the homestead they sing relevant songs.
Minnie also shared the private on-goings; she tweeted: “Waking up to a room filled w/ girly laughter. Got the best young ladies abo sina! MhlonyaneChronicles (sic)”
“I feel honoured and excited that my parents have performed this tradition for me. I’ve always said that I’m a Zulu girl and I respect my culture,”
