Avance Media’s 2020 100 Most Influential Young South Africans Recipient Simphiwe Zuma’s 2021 JCI World Congress To Take Place In November
Junior Chamber International World Congress Director Simphiwe Zuma – an Avance Media’s 2020 100 Most Influential Young South Africans recipient, and together with current National President Silindile Mbaza, are looking forward to the 2021 Junior Chamber International World Congress taking place from the 16th to the 20th of November 2021. 2021 Junior Chamber International World Congress will be a hybrid event attended by about 500 delegates onsite at the Sandton Convention Centre and a targeted 20,000 delegates virtually from more than 100 countries.
Simphiwe Zuma is an active citizen and international speaker who is passionate about the empowerment of young people and the role education plays in the development and advancement of Africa. Through her involvement with JCI, Simphiwe has championed the advancement of Agenda 2063 through the I Am Africa campaign and continues to create awareness and training on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the greater community. Silindile Mbaza is an enthusiastic social entrepreneur who is passionate about impact and sustainability of any project she is involved in. Silindile Mbasa was conferred with the Distinguished Women Leadership Excellence Awards, during the Young African Women Leadership Summit 2017. This award really brought light to the work in communities that she has been doing.
JCI is a century-old membership-based non-profit organization of young active citizens ages 18 to 40 in nearly 120 countries who are engaged and committed to creating positive impact in their communities. Active citizens are individuals invested in the future of our world.
Ignite Compassion, Unite Humanity is the theme of the 2021 JCI World Congress inspired by the philosophy of ubuntu and the universal values expressed at the Cradle of Humankind. In line with the theme, the 2021 JCI World Congress will focus on four of the SDGs, that are not only universal but fundamental to achieving sustainable livelihoods of young people in particular:
- Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
- Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
- Promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all.
- Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
The full programme will include inspirational sessions, impactful workshops, official General Assembly meetings, JCI programs, forums, training, and fun-filled events to share best practices, exchange ideas, and determine the future of our dynamic organization.
