Johannesburg, 10 June 2022: This year’s MultiChoice Talent Factory South Africa (MTFza) is coming to a close and the 2021 cohort have produced four exceptional films, including the star-studded uBaba Wase Next Door which will air on Mzansi Magic on 11 June at 20h30.

uBaba Wase Next Door is a 52-minute drama that follows the story of Mlungisi Bhengu, a local councillor whose life is turned upside down when he finds out that the daughter he abandoned years ago, is the neighbour’s new housekeeper.

The movie stars Saint Seseli, Zimkhitha Letlotlo, Nandi Nyembe, Talitha Ndima, Sibongile Phakathi and Lungelo Gwala.

“This is such an exciting time for us. To have stories, that were once simple concepts, be seen by the entire nation is a dream for us all. We are truly proud of the work we have created and are excited to see what lies ahead for us in the entertainment industry,” says Lehlohonolo Tsotetsi, intern at this year’s MTFza.

“We are exceptionally proud of the quality work our graduates have produced. This is a culmination of 12 months of hard work, and we can’t wait for the country to see all the films. The MTF Academy is our commitment to the future of our industry and gives young Africans the chance to hone their television and film production skills through a world-class training programme,” says Bobby Heaney, Director of MultiChoice Talent Factory South Africa Academy.

Now in its eighth year, the MTFza is a 12-month long industry readiness programme that affords the opportunity to learn from some of the leading TV producers in the country, while acquiring valuable experience in directing, producing, cinematography, commissioning, art direction and many other skills.

The MTFza Academy was established in 2014 and has been instrumental in helping transform the South African film and TV industry by upskilling students and empowering them with substantial knowledge and experience.

To date, 86 students have been trained through the Academy and are making their mark in the video entertainment industry. About 24 Mzansi Magic movies have been produced by participants of this programme and 20 graduates have started their own production companies, namely: A tribe called story, Eccentric Circus, Beyond Black, Seamless Cut, Pula Bakgaga Media etc.
