From MGM in association with BRON Creative, House of Gucci, released by United Artists Releasing and in cinemas now, is inspired by the shocking true story of the family behind the Italian fashion empire. Decca is proud to present the official soundtrack, which is out now.
When Patrizia Reggiani, an outsider from humble beginnings, marries into the Gucci family, her unbridled ambition begins to unravel the family legacy and triggers a reckless spiral of betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately…murder. This riveting tale is set against the glamorous backdrop of high fashion and high finance, with utterly captivating music to match.
Directed by Ridley Scott, House of Gucci’s star-studded cast includes Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, Jack Huston, with Salma Hayek and Al Pacino. The visually stylish film spans three turbulent decades in the tangled history of the multi-generational Gucci family, beginning in the 1970s. This is reflected in the enthralling soundtrack, featuring classic hits from Donna Summer, Blondie and Walter Murphy’s disco instrumental ‘A Fifth Of Beethoven,’ through to David Bowie, New Order and George Michael.
Alongside these era-defining tracks is the beautiful original scoring by Harry Gregson-Williams (The Last Duel, Shrek, Mulan and Kingdom of Heaven) one of Hollywood’s most sought-after and prolific composers whose long list of film and television credits underscore the diverse range of his talents. Here, Gregson-Williams focuses mainly on the different phases in the relationship between Patricia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci. He explains, “The score suite encapsulates the emotional peaks and troughs that the two main characters experience.”
Also featured is another of Italy’s beloved heroes, Luciano Pavarotti, performing with Dame Joan Sutherland in an extract from the Italian opera ‘La Traviata,’ by Verdi. This completes a soundtrack album that truly sounds as chic and fashionable as the stylish House of Gucci itself.
