Musician, body confidence influencer and TV Personality, Rachel Bada, available for interviews
The South London singer and content creator who appears on CH4’s Rise and Fall is opening up about what it’s really like to compete for £100k
“I went on rise and fall for my own personal self development and character building. I knew being in that atmosphere would be challenging, both mentally and potentially psychically, and in order for me to grow I needed to be tested and placed in an unconventional and uncomfortable environment.
Being in Rise and Fall was a rollercoaster journey for me. There were a lot of highs and lows. Being an ambivert I feel like it was more challenging for me because at times I can be very extroverted once I’m in a comfortable setting but when I’m uncomfortable I can be very introverted, which can be hard for people to adjust to. I feel like I came out of my shell much more when I was in the basement, even though the living conditions were not ideal there was less judgement being passed. There was a sense of community and union between us and the morale was high despite it being physically challenging. Whereas being in the penthouse, aesthetically it was pleasing but the atmosphere was so tense.
I had a shaky start with one of the other contestants on day 1 and I am happy with the way I handled the situation, but in general I felt like there was a lot of personal judgements being passed being in the penthouse and everyone was trying to prove themselves rather than analysing everyone’s strengths and weaknesses. Anything personal you did could be held against you at any point, which kept me on edge all the time, making it very uncomfortable to fully be myself. I was definitely a slow burner in the penthouse because I had my guard up and that reflected in the red room because I was presented as being really assertive and didn’t really contribute as much as a ruler.
Being in the game has taught me to be more adaptable to different environments and that I can coexist with people I do not necessarily get along with for the greater cause of increasing the prize fund.”
Rise and Fall isn’t the 27 year olds first experience of stardom. Back in 2011 she took her musical talents to The X-Factor where she performed as part of a girl band. Rachel is set to release a single and EP and has positioned herself as somewhat of an icon in the influencer world. She shares her fashion tips for curvy women, helping them embrace their bodies and feel empowered in their own skin.
