November 2024 – Nedbank’s commitment to helping South Africans reclaim their time through digital banking has saved its clients over 408 800 hours since the launch of its ‘Bank your time’ initiative earlier this year. This significant saving is the result of seamless digital solutions that make essential banking tasks faster, easier, and more efficient – enabling clients to focus on the things, moments and relationships that matter to them the most.
Nedbank’s approach to designing and delivering its time-saving digital tools is rooted in a deep understanding of its clients’ needs. In an internal study conducted with 200 South Africans from various banks as part of its campaign assessment, Nedbank found that consumers particularly value mobile payments, online account management and automated bill payments for their time efficiency. ‘These digital tools save our clients between 30 minutes and 5 hours a week,’ says Khensani Nobanda, Group Executive of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Nedbank.
Notably, the study revealed that clients most often reinvest this time in ways that contribute to their happiness – connecting with family and friends (72%), enjoying entertainment like movies and shows (71%), or participating in physical activities like sports and exercise (61%).
The Nedbank ‘Bank your time’ initiative was born from the insight that time, unlike money, is finite, and that South Africans value time-saving tools that enable them to achieve a better quality of life. ‘We recognise that our clients’ time is incredibly valuable, and each minute saved through our digital solutions is an opportunity for them to focus on what truly matters’, Nobanda explains. ‘Every moment our clients don’t spend doing banking is a moment they can invest in their families, hobbies, health or personal goals.’
Nedbank offers an extensive suite of digital solutions and services designed to simplify and accelerate everyday banking tasks for its clients, including offerings and services like the MiGoals Account, which can be opened in under 6 minutes, instant interbank payments with a PayShap ID, which takes less than 1 minute to set up, and digital credit card applications that you can complete in under 20 minutes.
Nobanda explains that, by delivering on its promise of making banking more than a transactional experience, Nedbank is redefining what it means to be a bank and using its financial expertise to do good. ‘Banking should be about more than just managing money. It needs to empower people to live a fuller, happier life,’ she says. ‘We’re proud to offer digital solutions that aren’t just convenient but also fundamentally improve people’s lives by giving them more time to do what they love. We are committed to continue innovating in ways that enhance quality of life and bring value that goes beyond money.’
