Mereba has dropped a new seven-track EP titled AZEB.
The release is titled after the singer’s middle name, which means “where the Sun rises.” “This year has shown us that that is actually more of us than many people thought,” Mereba said of AZEB in a press statement. “I want to remind people of love, too. The very thing we deserve the right to do and to be.”
Besides the EP, Mereba has also dropped another bomb: her pregnancy. “As fate would have it I became a mama the night of my project AZEB’s release. Where the Sun Rises, where my son rises, still in awe,” she wrote on Twitter, where she shared a portrait of her expectant self.
Mereba’s last full-length release was her 2019 debut LP, The Jungle is the Only Way Out. The album featured tracks including “Kinfolk,” “Heatwave,” and “Sandstorm,” which enlisted JID on guest vocals.
The singer-songwriter is also part of the Dreamville-affiliated supergroup Spillage Village, alongside JID, EarthGang, 6LACK and other members. Last September, the group released the album Spilligion, which included the tracks “Baptize” and “End of Daze” and marked their major label debut.
