NFL’s Jackson in Soweto today
The Jackson Family Foundation, in collaboration with community engagement specialists Cora Consulting, is pleased to announce that American NFL player Steven Jackson will be visiting schools in Soweto on Monday November 27 to engage with local students, promote literacy and foster cultural exchange.
One of the schools on Jackson’s itinerary is Mbuyisa Makhuba Primary School, named after the renowned (then 18-year old) anti-Apartheid activist who carried the body of Hector Pietersen during the historic 1976 Soweto Uprising.
Located opposite the Hector Pietersen Memorial and Nelson Mandela’s former home, the school holds immense historical significance. Jackson will be joining the school kids for a soccer game, fostering camaraderie and promoting the importance of physical fitness.
Jackson will also be visiting Orlando SDA Primary School, where he will be donating books and engaging in a reading session. The books to be donated can be found at adventuresoflo.com, authored by American writer Lolanda Bunch-Cooper. These books captivate young readers by instilling a passion for travel, imagination and learning about a variety of cultures worldwide.
