Following the successful release of her previous single “Nyumbani” in 2024, Kenyan Afro-rising recording, award-winning performing and producing artist Njerae continues to ascend with the release of her highly anticipated new track, “beg for it.” Teaming up with her collaborator and power producer Kobby Worldwide, “beg for it” showcases Njerae’s distinctive vocal style and songwriting craftsmanship, further solidifying her position as a rising star in the Kenyan music scene. Njerae and Kobby have previously combined for her chart-topping “Aki Sioni” (currently at 1.7M streams on Spotify) and “OTD” (1.1M on Spotify) records alongside Njerae’s bonafide classic debut album ‘Unintentional’. Two years later, ‘Unintentional’ remains in the Apple Music Kenya Top 50 albums, while “Aki Sioni” maintains a lofty 15th place in the Apple Music Top 100 Kenya charts. “Aki Sioni” has amassed a combined 3M streams across platforms and on “beg for it”, her unbridled chemistry with Kobby Worldwide illuminates yet again.
“Beg For It is an Afro-R&B track that speaks to the importance of communication in a relationship” Njerae says.
“beg for it,” tells the story of a lover-girl who is knee-deep in love. She expresses that she not only wants this man, but she yearns for his love and is virtually willing to beg for it. Njerae explores the initial confusion that comes with loving someone and the lengths we go to show it. “I have always been a fan of open communication in relationships but sometimes I also realise that it can be hard to say what you want to say. ‘beg for it’ was my attempt at letting him know that I not only want but need his love,” she shared.
On the back of a blistering December period where Njerae has been booked and busy, as well as winning awards – she was also named Top 100 Kenyans for her influence on youth through music by popular media outlet Kenyans.co.ke. She would also end up notching the ‘Album of the Year Award’ in a fan-voted category for ‘Unintentional’ at the inaugural digital 254 Radio Awards. Njerae is ecstatic to share her new single to her esteemed fans. In the performance realm, Njerae co-headlined Blankets & Wine Festivals, along with a string of performances over the festive period including The Beneath The Baobab Festival in Kilifi over New Years to end her year in 2024.
For the better part of 2024, social media users and music lovers shared that they loved the place she was in life, and that she should keep writing love songs that many relate to. Her music, while a form of artistic expression, is a healing gem for those who relate to her works.
Capitalizing on a transcendental momentum of 2024 that allowed Njerae to join the highest streamed artists on Spotify in Kenya, performing at major festivals such as Raha Fest, Nairobi Street Food Festival and headlining her inaugural debut show – Njerae will start the year off with a mellow Afro R&B cut in “beg For It”.
With a new campaign, #NjeraeSupremacy, the “Aki Sioni” hit maker is set to use every resource available to her to make great hits. “The plan is to take the brand NJERAE a notch higher. More music, performances, tours, honestly just delivering for my fans.,” she shared.
