Both the DA and EFF say they will go to court if Police Minister Nathi Nhleko decides that President Jacob Zuma does not have to pay back part of the money spent on upgrading his private estate at Nkandla.
EFF leader Julius Malema said on Thursday his party will go to court to ensure that Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s recommendation that Zuma pay back a “reasonable percentage” of the costs not related to security, is enforced.
DA parliamentary leader Mmusi Maimane also said the party is working on the first step in the process, and will appeal a ruling by the Western Cape High Court.
Zuma ordered Nhleko to assess whether he should be held accountable for part of the R246m security upgrades at his home in KwaZulu-Natal.
